Bank statement to CSV
Get the transactions from your PDF statement as a plain CSV: one row per transaction, ready for a spreadsheet, accounting software or your own script.
Check the table. If a column is wrong, change its type in the header: the spreadsheet is made from what you see.
Your statement never leaves your device
How to do it
- Download your statement as a PDF from online banking.
- Choose the file here and check the transactions table and the balance check.
- If a column is wrong, change its type in the table header.
- Click "Download CSV".
Tips
- The CSV uses commas between columns, a dot for decimals and dates as 2024-01-31, so it imports the same way in any program.
- Columns: Date, Description, Amount, Direction and Balance, plus Value date when the statement has one. Money out is negative.
- The file is UTF-8 with a byte order mark, so Excel shows accents and currency symbols correctly when you double-click it.
- A description that starts with =, +, - or @ gets an apostrophe in front, so a spreadsheet never runs it as a formula.
Questions
CSV or Excel: which should I choose?
Excel (XLSX) if you will work in a spreadsheet: dates and amounts arrive already as dates and numbers. CSV to import into accounting software, a budgeting app, a database or a script, which usually expect plain text.
Can I get semicolons instead of commas?
The Spanish version of this page saves with semicolons, a decimal comma and dates as 31/01/2024, as Excel expects in Spain and much of Europe.
Is my statement uploaded to a server?
No. Your browser reads the PDF and builds the file on your device. The statement is not sent anywhere: you can go offline after this page has loaded and it keeps working.
Does it work with scanned statements?
Not yet. Only digital statements downloaded from online banking work, because they have the text inside. A scan or a photo is just a picture and would need text recognition (OCR), which we do not offer for now.
